OUR AREA

This historic jewel of a destination forms part of the world-famous Baviaanskloof route and is situated close to the hamlets of Loerie, Hankey, and Patensie.

The Bergrivier area is known for its fynbos and luscious thickets, with beautiful stretches of heath that accompany several valleys and a native forest. Bergrivier is blessed with moderate weather and little wind, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway throughout the year.

Our cottages offer the perfect blend of comfort and nature, each boasting spectacular panoramic views that will leave you mesmerized. Fully equipped with modern amenities, our cottages ensure a cozy and convenient stay for all our guests. Enjoy the great outdoors with private braai areas, perfect for a delightful barbecue experience amidst nature’s splendour.

Experience the charm of our Pioneer Wagons, also known as Ox-Wagons, each offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Fully equipped with modern amenities, every wagon includes a private braai area and a spacious deck for your comfort. For larger groups, an optional Lapa is available, providing a perfect setting for gatherings amidst the beauty of nature.

The camping area at Bergrivier Eco Retreat is situated on the historic site of the original farmhouse. This expansive, open grass field is a perfect blend of nature and fun, featuring trees for shade, swings, a seesaw, an obstacle course, and a refreshing farm dam for cooling off in the summer. The campsite serves as a fantastic extension of our accommodation options, offering a unique and immersive outdoor experience.

For those seeking more structured accommodation, the ‘Smithy’ and the ‘Stal’ provides backpacker options. The site also includes a versatile Lapa for catering, and clean ablution facilities.
